What happens

Marjorie Gildersleeve, a seventeen-year-old, tells her Uncle Gildersleeve that she has fallen in love with her new French teacher, Andre Marcel, and she refuses to be talked out of it. Gildersleeve tries to steer her toward Ben, a boy she has liked before, and sends Ben over for an evening visit. Meanwhile Andre writes to Gildersleeve asking to call on him about Marjorie, and Gildersleeve consults his friend Judge Hooker and his housekeeper Birdie about how to respond. The story follows the family's efforts to handle Marjorie's infatuation during a spring week in Summerfield.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
