What happens
Gildersleeve, the water commissioner of Summerfield, is lonely while his girlfriend May Kelly is away on vacation. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on July 22, 1953, starring Harold Peary, Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle. Summerfield, a small town; the train station, Gildersleeve's home, and Peavey's drugstore

Listen for: The postcard Gildersleeve reads and his hopes for May's return, then the train platform scene where May introduces Stan as her fiancé
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
