What happens
Leroy Gildersleeve takes a part-time job at Mr. Peavey's drugstore to earn Christmas money after receiving a holiday savings club payout. Working on commission, he devises a scheme to tip off friends about gifts they will receive, hoping they will buy presents in return and boost his earnings. The Great Gildersleeve is a long-running NBC radio comedy, and this episode aired on December 10, 1952, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman among its leads. Leroy's plan begins to bring in sales, as his uncle's acquaintances and others respond to his hints. The story follows his business dealings through the busy holiday shopping period in Summerfield.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
