What happens
Commissioner Gildersleeve is delighted when Grace Tuttle's brother Sidney arrives in Summerfield, and he quickly introduces him around town. Sidney presents himself as an important corporate correlator, but he keeps borrowing money and charging purchases to Gildersleeve's account. Meanwhile Leroy is pressured by a schoolmate, and Gildersleeve begins to doubt Sidney's claims. The Great Gildersleeve was broadcast on NBC on December 17, 1952, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman among the cast. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
