What happens
Water Commissioner Gildersleeve is delighted when his nephew Leroy is invited by Brenda Bullard to a junior cotillion at Mrs. Murphy's seminary, seeing it as proof the family belongs among the town's best. Their plans unravel when Judge Bullard and Gildersleeve quarrel over the match, and the children's first date is called off. Leroy and Brenda, distressed by the adults, decide to leave the town together. The Great Gildersleeve, starring Willard Waterman, aired on NBC on November 29, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
