What happens
Leroy Gildersleeve's nephew Leroy is spending his afternoons in bebop jam sessions with Babs instead of doing his chores and homework. Gildersleeve, worried about the boy's musical tastes, arranges for Leroy to spend an afternoon with Clara Pettibone, a cultured young cellist whose mother is a respected figure in town. Gildersleeve hopes the visit will steer Leroy toward a more serious pastime, but Leroy resists the plan from the start. The episode is part of the long-running radio series The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on March 18, 1953, with Harold Peary in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
