What happens
Gildersleeve, the water commissioner of Summerfield, invites guests to his Thanksgiving dinner after a snowy evening, but his plans are repeatedly altered as those he asks decline or change their minds. Leroy and Gildersleeve clash with neighbor Rumson Bullard over a broken window, and Gildersleeve's housekeeper Birdie prepares a large turkey. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on November 21, 1951, with Harold Peary in the title role and Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle also in the cast. Little Mike from the children's home joins the household and encourages Gildersleeve to be generous to others.

Characters: Gildersleeve, Leroy, Birdie, Bullard, Mike, Judge Hooker, Peevey, Marjorie
Listen for: Gildersleeve's changing list of Thanksgiving guests, and the friendly exchanges with Rumson Bullard.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
