What happens
Throughout a tense week before the income tax deadline, Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve wrestles with whether to report the interest on his savings account. His conscience and a tempting voice urging him to overlook it argue back and forth as he visits the barbershop, deals with his household, and considers what others are doing. The Great Gildersleeve is an NBC radio comedy, first broadcast on March 14, 1943, starring Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle. The story follows Gildersleeve's dilemma through a series of comic encounters with his housekeeper Birdie, his nephew Leroy, and the notary Peebee.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
