What happens
Gildersleeve, the pompous town official, buys a bottle of men's grooming scent from Peavey at the pharmacy and splashes it on himself. Soon his niece Marjorie, his nephew Leroy and his ward Leila all react to it, and Eve Goodwin asks him to sing at a Parent Teachers Association meeting. The episode is part of The Great Gildersleeve, a radio comedy broadcast on NBC on September 25, 1946, starring Harold Peary. Gildersleeve's romantic evening with Leila turns awkward when she announces her engagement to a doctor she met in Virginia.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
