What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, the Water Commissioner of Summerfield, takes his neighbor Catherine Milford to a dance, but she has repeatedly turned down his invitations because she finds him old-fashioned. Determined to impress her, Gildy spends the day learning the samba with help from his household and his friend P.V. Pebbly. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on February 1, 1950, with Harold Peary in the title role, joined by Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle. At the dance, Gildy hopes his new steps will win Catherine over.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
