What happens

Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, water commissioner of Summerfield, prepares for his June wedding to Leila Ransom. He holds a meeting with his staff at the water department, asking them to handle his duties during his absence, then tries to set a household budget with Leila, who finds it tedious. He also tells his nephew Leroy he will not be allowed to attend the honeymoon or the prize fight he wants to see, and makes him temporarily the man of the house. Gildersleeve gathers camping gear and plans a honeymoon at Lake Hackmatak. The Great Gildersleeve is an NBC radio comedy starring Harold Peary, and this episode aired on June 13, 1943.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
