What happens
Gildersleeve wakes late on a Monday morning and claims to feel sick, so his niece Marjorie and his housekeeper Birdie fuss over him. Dr. Pettibone comes to the house and is quickly pushed aside by Dr. Hargrave, a newcomer whom Gildersleeve's friend Leila admires. Gildersleeve is taken to the hospital for observation, where a nurse, Miss Riley, looks after him. Gildersleeve grows increasingly anxious, and his lawyer, Judge Hooker, visits. The episode is part of the Great Gildersleeve radio series, first broadcast on NBC on January 9, 1944, with Harold Peary in the title role, alongside Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
