What happens
Water Commissioner Gildersleeve hires Lovey Munson, the wife of his friend Floyd the barber, to help with a flood of office work. Lovey proves chatty and disorganized, and Gildersleeve's household notices her gossip and lateness. Gildersleeve worries about his judgment and decides to take the workload to Floyd. Floyd, a barber, is struggling against a new shop across the street. The episode is part of the long-running radio comedy The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on February 6, 1952, starring Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
