What happens
Gildersleeve, now running for mayor, spends a quiet Saturday at home with his niece Marjorie and his ward Leroy. Leroy borrows money to buy a pin cushion for Miss Goodwin, and Gildersleeve, who is engaged to her, discusses their wedding plans. Later Gildersleeve visits Eve, who is uncertain about the date, and then Leila Ransom calls on him, and an uncomfortable moment passes between them. Gildersleeve is left wondering where he stands. The episode is from the series The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on May 14, 1944, starring Harold Peary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
