What happens
Leroy and George Gildersleeve go fishing at Grass Lake, a day when Gloria McKinley and Bert Huggins are also going there. Gildersleeve has been eager to see Gloria, and his niece Marjorie's honeymoon letter and the chance of a coincidental meeting shape his plans. Judge Hooker invites himself along, and the outing turns into a day of rival boats, fishing lines and awkward encounters on the lake. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on July 23, 1952. Willard Waterman stars in the title role, with Harold Peary and Lillian Randolph among the regular cast.
Summerville, and Grass Lake, a public lake outside town

Listen for: Gildersleeve's attempts to appear casually at Grass Lake, and the boat scene with Gloria and Bert Huggins
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
