What happens

Harold Peary's Great Gildersleeve, a 1943 NBC episode from the series of the same name, finds Gildersleeve still moping after being jilted at the altar by the widow Leila Ransom. He has been vacationing at the Elmwood Hotel on Grass Lake with his niece Marjorie and nephew Leroy, but the hotel's service and the constant attentions of the guests wear on him. Gildersleeve finds himself chased by several women at the hotel, and he and the children argue as they pack to leave. Gildersleeve meets a stranger by the lake and tells her about his heartbreak, then the two set off on a walk. Gildersleeve's pal Judge Hooker then arrives, and the group plans fishing, golf and a dance before they all head home.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
