What happens
Summerfield is on the eve of a national election, and the town's mayoral race is the main topic of talk. At the office of water commissioner Gildersleeve, he and Judge Hooker argue over whether Cyrus P. Twilliger will be reelected, and the two make an outlandish wager. The episode of The Great Gildersleeve, aired on NBC on November 5, 1944, stars Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle. Gildersleeve's household and friends each share their political views, sometimes at odds with one another. Gildersleeve and Judge Hooker then make a deal involving the voting booth.

Listen for: The wager between Gildersleeve and Judge Hooker over the mayoral race
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
