What happens

Gildersleeve and Leroy travel to Doyle O'Dell's dude ranch after Gildersleeve learns that Leela Ransom has gone there, though he dislikes horses and had earlier refused the idea. At the ranch they find Leela already enjoying the company of O'Dell, the ranch's cowboy singer. Gildersleeve and Leroy try to win her attention while attempting the ranch's activities, from milking a cow to tending a pig. The Great Gildersleeve is a comedy series heard on NBC, and this episode was transcribed for later broadcast, with Willard Waterman in the title role and Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast. The episode is the first half of a two-part story.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
