What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, the mayor-hopeful of Summerfield, is buoyed by a favorable newspaper editorial and growing public respect for his campaign. A visit from local figure Floyd Munson brings news that powerful Clarence Magruder wishes to meet him, and Magruder arrives at the Gildersleeve home to size him up. Gildersleeve's niece Marjorie and nephew Leroy watch the visit from the stairs. Later, on Easter morning, Gildersleeve attends church with Eve Goodwin and Judge Hooker's friend Leila Ransom is also present. The Great Gildersleeve, an NBC radio comedy, is broadcast in April 1944, starring Harold Peary, Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
