What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve is a Summerfield neighbor of the wealthy Mr. Rumson Bullard, and their relations sour when Bullard backs his new sailboat into Gildersleeve's maple tree. Bullard then finds his route to the lake blocked by a fence and a posted property, and he needs permission from the water commissioner to launch his boat. Bullard makes a show of friendship toward Gildersleeve, inviting him to lunch at his club with a South African Englishman, Sir Jasper Bollock. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on April 4, 1951, starring Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
