What happens
Bronco, the young son-in-law of Gildersleeve, is put in charge of running the household after he criticizes the way the house is kept. Gildersleeve, playing by his own rules, lets Bronco take over the budget and the bills. Bronco sets out to cut costs and runs into trouble with the family's spending habits and with the household staff. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy from NBC, first broadcast on March 21, 1951, starring Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast. The episode follows Bronco's new authority over the house and the family's reactions to it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
