What happens
Summerfield's Water Commissioner Gildersleeve is annoyed when the mayor criticizes his monthly water report because revenue has dropped. His nephew-in-law Bronco then offers him a chance to buy shares in the Babbling Brook Water Company, a new bottled water venture. Gildersleeve declines at first, warning Bronco that furnishing water is a thankless job. As the story goes on, family members and friends begin buying into the company, and Gildersleeve starts to feel left out. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio series, and this episode was first broadcast on NBC on April 29, 1953. Harold Peary and Willard Waterman are among its lead actors.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
