What happens
Leroy and his uncle Gildersleeve spend a snowy Sunday afternoon when Ann Tuttle, back in town visiting, passes by the house. Gildersleeve, eager to impress her, invites her to dinner, and he dresses formally and rehearses the table manners with Leroy and Marjorie. Ann is late, and the dinner begins awkwardly, with Gildersleeve trying to recite romantic poetry to win her over. Harold Peary plays Gildersleeve in this NBC series, with the episode aired on January 7, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
