What happens
Fred Allen, playing the editor of the Bedlam News, runs a chaotic newspaper office filled with odd visitors and bizarre assignments. A stream of wacky callers, a prizefighter seeking publicity, and a neighborhood family drawn into bridge games keep the staff busy. The broadcast is part of the Fred Allen series, first aired on April 18, 1934, with Fred Allen, Portland Hoffa, Kenny Delmar and Minerva Pious in the leading parts. Its final segment turns to a listener's question about whether to buy a toupee.
The Bedlam News newspaper office, with street scenes and a neighborhood bridge club

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
