What happens

Fred Allen, Portland Hoffa and their companions stroll along Main Street on a Sunday evening, stopping to question passersby about giveaway radio programs. A bird-obsessed man, a grumpy neighbor and a man who loses his car in a comic story each offer opinions, and Mrs. Nussbaum tells of prizes she received. Fred and Portland then meet a worried man whose breakfast routine depends on a single electric outlet, and they seek advice from the author Dale Carnegie. The episode is a 1948 broadcast of the Fred Allen series, first aired October 24, 1948, on CBS and NBC, with Fred Allen, Portland Hoffa, Kenny Delmar and Minerva Pious in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
