What happens
Fred Allen and Portland Hoffa stroll the streets of a small town, stopping to question residents about the worst snowstorm they have ever seen. Their walk brings them to a Russian goodwill ambassador, an old farmer named Moody, and the local lawyer Dr. Rockwell. The episode then shifts into a courtroom sketch, where the dentist Nemo Hatch stands trial for the murder of Faber Serba, a man set to marry Googie Garthman at the Prairie Plaza Hotel. Witnesses including Clem, the hotel proprietor, and the sheriff give their accounts of the morning of the killing. This is the Fred Allen Show, broadcast in the late 1940s with Fred Allen and Portland Hoffa among its leads.
A small town's Main Street in winter, and later a courtroom in the town of Gopher Gulch.

Listen for: The courtroom trial of Nemo Hatch, where the witnesses give their accounts of the morning of the murder.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
