What happens
Fred Allen hosts a comedy broadcast from New York on the night after Easter, with guests James and Pamela Mason, Portland Hoffa and Kenny Delmar. Allen's street-corner walks through his neighborhood, Allen's Alley, meet a parade of bickering and eccentric residents, among them a senator, a man trapped in his raincoat, and a neighbor who has fifty servants. Allen talks with the Masons about their planned trip to Hollywood and a made-up English breakfast show, while Jack Benny is mentioned as a comic target. The Demarco Sisters sing and Al Goodman's orchestra plays between sketches. This is the Fred Allen radio show, first broadcast on March 28, 1948, on CBS and NBC.

Listen for: Allen's sharp exchanges with Portland Hoffa and the Allen's Alley residents, and the bit where Allen pitches James and Pamela Mason a mock English breakfast program.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
