What happens

Fred Allen hosts the Town Hall Tonight variety program, which opens with the band's theme and a comic parade. The main sketch, a mock news bulletin, presents the case of Gallahad Dubb, a Broadway pedestrian arrested for spitting out his chewing gum. Dubb falls into the hands of Renegade Taught, an attorney who keeps gouging his client for fees and passes off hired witnesses in court. The story becomes absurd as the case expands and the charges mount. Allen later interviews aviator Ralph W. Smith about his airmail and polar expedition work, and Andre Baruch is introduced as the new announcer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
