What happens

Fred Allen hosts a Navy-homecoming broadcast in which he trades jokes with Kenny Delmar and Portland Hoffa about the fleet's return and the city's traffic. Allen then visits the neighbours in his radio alley: Senator Claghorn, the grumbling Mr. Moody, Mrs. Nussbaum with her fish dinners, and a pair of singing boys. A summons from Charlie McCarthy's lawyer complicates the evening, and a stand-in named Frank Sinatra arrives when the scheduled singing street cleaner fails to appear. The show ends with a hillbilly-style bit that Allen and Sinatra build together.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
