What happens

Fred Allen and Portland Hoffa stroll down Main Street on a Sunday evening, stopping to chat with a string of colorful townsfolk about summer vacations. Along the way they meet Senator Claghorn, Mrs. Nussbaum, and Mr. Moody, who runs a roadside egg stand. Later, Fred and Portland visit a Ford dealer to say goodbye, since this is the program's final broadcast. Fred Allen hosts this comedy variety show, which aired on June 29, 1949, on CBS and NBC. The episode's first part is written in a sketch format that moves from street encounters to a showroom visit and a loan-company errand for Henry Morgan.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
