What happens

Fred Allen strolls down Main Street on a Sunday night, collecting mail from a friend and quizzing passersby about hobbies. He meets Colonel Stoopnagle, Titus Moody and others, and encounters a Ford dealer's booklet on overdrive. Later, Fred is left babysitting Leopold, the son of Joe and Marj, who refuses to sleep. Colonel Stoopnagle arrives with a list of inventions and tries a story and a record to settle the boy down, while Fred attempts to finish his radio program for the following Sunday. The Fred Allen Show, broadcast in 1949 on CBS and NBC, features Fred Allen, Portland Hoffa, Kenny Delmar and Minerva Pious.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
