What happens
Fibber McGee and Molly are restless on a September evening and decide to go out to the movies, after Fibber's failed attempts to find a boarder for their spare room. At the theater, a dispute over ticket prices and seat types draws attention, and the McGees end up in a crowd. Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan are among the performers. The show first aired on NBC Radio on September 28, 1943, as part of the Fibber McGee and Molly series.
McGee home and a local movie theater in a small town, early autumn 1943
Characters: Fibber McGee, Molly McGee, Doc Gamble, Mr. Wellington, Mr. LaCravia, Bottle Nose Gilroy
Listen for: Fibber's arguments with the ticket seller over the price of seats, and the mix-up in the theater that brings the manager out to speak with the McGees
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
