What happens
Fibber McGee takes over the dishwashing while Molly looks on, because he has entered a contest offering five thousand dollars a year for life to whoever best finishes the sentence "I like to wash my dishes in Latherino because..." in twenty-five words or fewer. Fibber's attempts draw visits from neighbors Mrs. Uppington and Mr. Wilcox, who offer their opinions and advice, and the afternoon's chatter turns to Mayor LaTrivia and his horse Lillian, a discussion of the Kentucky Derby, and the Whipples' marriage. The episode is from the series Fibber McGee and Molly, first broadcast on NBC Radio on March 31, 1942, with Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan in the cast.
The McGee home, with a kitchen where Fibber and Molly wash dishes, and nearby neighbors' houses on the same street.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
