What happens
Fibber McGee and Molly set out on a trip to Middleton so Fibber can meet a friend home from Washington about what he calls an important business idea, a plan for post-war world travel using aircraft carriers. Wartime crowding makes getting train seats difficult, and the couple wrangle with a ticket clerk, a neighbor, and the station staff while Fibber insists his scheme is vital. The series is the NBC radio comedy Fibber McGee and Molly, first broadcast on May 25, 1943, starring Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
