What happens

Fibber McGee and Molly return home by bus from a successful Hollywood engagement, sharing a sandwich and bickering cheerfully as they travel. They plan to slip home and freshen up before a welcoming crowd gathers at the railroad station. Their plans run into trouble as they learn the town has not been waiting for them the way they expected. Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan lead the cast of this episode of the Fibber McGee and Molly series, which aired on NBC Radio on April 9, 1940.

A bus approaching town, then the McGee home and the railroad station.

Characters: Fibber McGee, Molly McGee, Billy Mills, Uppy

Listen for: Fibber's mounting attempts to arrange a dignified homecoming, and Molly's dry replies to his plans.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
