What happens
Jim Anderson and his family in Springfield face a series of mix-ups on a busy Sunday. Jim has trouble sleeping, Betty and Kathy disagree over nail polish and clocks, and a telegram announces a visit from Aunt Martha. Jim's pants and shirt go missing, and the children change the clocks wrongly, confusing everyone about the time. The family scatters across town to meet a relative arriving at the station, and a second telegram changes the plans. This is Father Knows Best, a radio comedy about the Anderson household, broadcast on September 21, 1950, and starring Robert Young as father Jim Anderson.
The Anderson home on Maple Street in Springfield, and later the railway station and bus depot.
Characters: Jim Anderson, Margaret Anderson, Betty Anderson, Kathy Anderson, Bud Anderson, Aunt Martha, Dick Andrews
Listen for: Jim's confusion over turning the clocks back for daylight saving, and the family's hunt for Aunt Martha at the station.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
