What happens

Jim Anderson receives an invitation from his old school friend Nelson Bathwell to an insurance underwriters convention in Chicago, and Jim and his wife Margaret begin to dream of a trip of their own. Meanwhile their children plan their own weekend away: Bud Anderson is going camping at Beaver Lake with his friends, Betty is joining a college glee club trip, and young Kathy has been invited to stay as a house guest with her friend Maxine. The household is suddenly busy with packing and arrangements, and the family's plans begin to shift around one another. This episode of Father Knows Best, broadcast on September 18, 1952, stars Robert Young as Father, and the story is told through the Andersons' morning and departures.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
