What happens

Father Knows Best is a half-hour family drama from radio, first broadcast on March 22, 1951, starring Robert Young as Jim Anderson. Rain has kept the Andersons indoors in Springfield for three days, and tempers are short. A leak in the attic ruins the ceiling, Margaret and Jim argue over money and clothes, and an unexpected visitor arrives, Matt Matthews, a traveling stranger whose car has stalled. He and his two children, Betsy and Skipper, come in from the storm, and the household must find room for them. Their situation begins to change everyone's view of their own troubles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
