What happens

Jim Anderson learns that his family has been pressured by the neighbors to keep up with the Joneses. His wife Margaret, daughters Betty and Kathy, and son Bud each want something they feel the other families already have, from a hand-knit dress to a birthday horseback party. When Jim agrees to buy twelve tickets to the service club minstrel show so friends can join him, he finds his expense growing. Father Knows Best is a radio family comedy, and this episode aired on February 28, 1952, with Robert Young as Jim Anderson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
