What happens

Jim Anderson comes home early to find the living room full of women planning the Father's Day outing for the Springfield neighborhood. The event has grown from a few families into a large gathering that includes the Boys Club, and the women's committees have taken over the house. Jim is pushed out of his own rooms and makes his way to the garage with his son Bud and his daughter Betty. Jim and Sam Woody challenge each other to a series of races at the picnic, and Jim and Bud begin an exercise program to win. Their training goes badly, leaving both of them exhausted and unable to go to the picnic. The episode is a 1951 installment of the radio series Father Knows Best, starring Robert Young as Jim Anderson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
