What happens

Father Knows Best is a family comedy series set in the Anderson household on Maple Street, with Robert Young as Jim Anderson, the father. In this episode, Betty Anderson's boyfriend Ralph is due to visit, and Jim suspects the couple may be planning something. Jim and Margaret Anderson recall how their own courtship, years earlier, involved a scheme to win over Margaret's stubborn father. The family, meanwhile, prepares for Ralph's arrival and the important question he has come to ask. The original air date was March 11, 1954.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
