What happens
Bud Anderson quits school after a note he wrote to a classmate, meant for Don Curry, is read aloud to the class and makes him the object of teasing. His father Jim Anderson, the head of the household on Maple Street in Springfield, decides to give Bud a job as the family's handyman, expecting the hard work will make him want to return to school. Margaret Anderson and the children react to the news in their own ways. This is the Father Knows Best episode Bud Quits School, from 1952. Robert Young plays Jim Anderson.
