What happens

Jim Anderson brings home a used billiard table, to the dismay of his wife Margaret, who questions whether it was a sensible purchase for the family. Their children, Betty, Bud and Kathy, each become entangled in the household's growing troubles over lost gym shoes, missing gloves and a school composition about their father. Father Knows Best is a half-hour family comedy from the series of the same name, set in the Anderson household on Maple Street in Springfield. This episode was broadcast on 27 September 1951, and Robert Young plays Jim Anderson. The sponsor's commercials and the program's standard opening and closing are not described here.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
