What happens

Betty Anderson, who has spent a month rehearsing the role of Camille, is convinced her stage performance has made her a candidate for Hollywood. Her family is skeptical, and her boyfriend Billy Smith is openly against the idea. When a talent scout named Alfred Kay arrives at the Anderson home, the household is thrown into confusion over who he has come to see and what he wants. Betty's parents debate whether to tell her the truth about her prospects, and the evening becomes a family argument over ambition, romance and what a young woman's future should look like. The Anderson family of Springfield, from the radio series Father Knows Best, is at the centre of the story, and the episode opens on a quiet dinner that quickly turns to dramatics.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
