What happens

Jim Anderson takes his family up Pine Mountain on Christmas Eve to cut their own tree, hoping to restore what he sees as a simpler, old-fashioned holiday. Margaret, Betty, Bud, and Kathy go along, but a snowstorm strands their car, and they walk through the blizzard to a remote roadside store run by Tom and Maggie Terrell. The Andersons find themselves stranded together with the Terrells on Christmas Eve, and the evening shifts their outlook. This is Father Knows Best, a radio series starring Robert Young, first broadcast on December 24, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
