What happens

In the spring of 1945, a supply ship under Captain Hazard sails through the Moluccas with a detachment of Ranger troops under Lieutenant Drury. Crewman McCallum notices a sulphur smell and rising water temperatures, and the ship soon finds itself surrounded by a newly emerging volcano. The crew must decide how to get the vessel out of the crater, and the men begin surveying the rim and considering whether a passage can be found or blasted open. Escape presents the story in its 1954 broadcast, with Ted de Corsia and Harry Bartell among the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
