What happens
Johnny Allison, a front gate superintendent at a carnival set up among the rubble of postwar Vienna, becomes entangled with his fellow worker Joey after a wallet theft is discovered. Joey is a drunk who has been bitter toward Johnny, and tensions rise around a missing sum of money and a blonde woman named Lily who works the carnival. The carnival's Ferris wheel, the mirror hall, and the Russian zone's edge all play a role as the pressure builds among the carnival's residents. This is an episode of the Escape series, which first aired on September 11, 1954, starring the cast named in the broadcast. Johnny's situation grows increasingly tense as the carnival's activity continues around him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
