What happens

Bruce Callender escorts Lotten Herrick, a nuclear physicist who has defected back from the East, on a train toward Hanover for British intelligence. Herrick claims he came home because he picked the wrong side, but Bruce senses his escape was too easy. When Bruce learns that an enemy agent is aboard and that a bomb has been planted on the train, to be detonated if the train stops before the Oka River, he and his companions must search the baggage and passengers while the engineer threatens to halt the train. The Escape radio series, with William Conrad starring as Bruce, presents this 1953 episode, adapted from a story by Ross Murray and first broadcast on September 6, 1953.

Listen for: The search for the hidden bomb aboard the train, and the mounting deadline set by the warning that the train must not stop before the Oka River

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
