What happens

Corporal Robert Lacey and Private Tabori, two Marines on a night patrol on Okinawa in 1945, are stranded three miles behind Japanese lines. Lacey has long talked about a secret island of gentle giants and beautiful women, and when strange figures appear in the moonlight, Tabori fires at them and wounds a young woman. Lacey insists on helping her, and the two Marines follow her toward a canoe and an island that Lacey believes is the one from his dream. Escape is an old-time radio anthology series, and this episode first aired on March 8, 1953. The cast is not named in the transcript.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
