What happens

Jack Rhett, a feared gunfighter, is hired by the leading citizens of Red Mesa to serve as their new sheriff, despite the objections of some townspeople. Rhett lays down his own rules and refuses to tolerate interference from the U.S. Deputy Marshal, Matt Travener. Tensions rise between Rhett and Bo Helen, who runs the saloon that depends on the cattle riders passing through town. As trouble gathers around the saloon and the outlaw Todd Mallon approaches, Rhett must decide how to handle the threats to his town. This is the Escape episode 'Wild Jack Rhett', broadcast on 1953-02-15, with Harry Bartell in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
